Tippecanoe Ancient
Fife & Drum Corps
Every year the Tippecanoe Ancient Fife and Drum Corps travels all over the midwestern United States. Often we travel to the east coast heart of fifing and drumming in Connecticut. On very special occasions we have been privileged to travel abroad and represent the historic French heritage of our community and our country. |
| Our travels have taken us as far as France, Switzerland, Italy and Canada and widely through the United States to Connecticut, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennslyvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and Wisconsin. |
On trips lasting more than one day, the corps sets up and lives in an authentic 18th century tent encampment. This allows us to not only demonstrate the music and drill of the 18th century French marines but also their lifestyle on a period military campaign. We cook our own meals over a campfire much as it was done 250 years ago. During the day and after evening colors, we play music in our encampment both for our own enjoyment as well as that of our fellow participants and the public. |
