In Basel, we were the guests of the Swiss Regimental Fife and Drum Corps. Basel is the city of drums. There are over 5000 drummers living in Basel. So many so that drumming is restricted to certain days and hours of the week. We were honored to perform downtown and at a formal Beergarten. The Swiss Regimentals wear 1860's era Union Army uniforms. It was quite a scene to see a group of Americans wearing French uniforms with a group of Swiss wearing American uniforms all playing the same fife and drum music together.
